True...running the ball and controlling the line is what wins games.
I won't pull against Favre, never have...But I gotta say I have found myself pulling for the Giants the last couple weeks....You gotta love it for Eli, after all the shat people have talked about him...But I think alot of their success is hinged on the fact that they have no mega-stars, like Peyton, LT, Favre, Moss, T.O., or a Brady...but since they aren't having to pay any of the SuperStar prices for those guys, they have spread their money out, and nearly every possition, when healthy is solid as a rock...Also I think other than LT, and Turner (if LT is healthy), the next best 1-2 punch in backs is Jacobs-Bradshaw...
Not sure it will happen, but could you imagine a Norv versus Eli superbowl? One of them would be forced to win and you would be forced to at least compare them to Trent Dilfer or John Gruden the rest of your dying days
Gruden is a pretty good coach...but IMO Dilfer won his SB cuz he had a bad a$$ D, and he didn't hurt his team...just maintained.
I dunno about Gruden, I have alot of Buc fans for friends and they hate Gruden.
Dilfer did win because of the D but from here on out, every QB that isnt a superstar is going to be known as a game manager and can win the big one by not making mistakes ignoring the obvious that no QB besides Dilfer ever played like that and won a superbowl lol. If Eli makes the big game, they will say he can win if he just plays like Trent Dilfer. Ive heard it a million times. Last year it was Grossman. I hate hearing that term "managing the game". That usually means your offense stinks and you dont have anything but a slim chance at winning.
There have been a few..McMahon, whoever QB'd the Colts when they beat the Boys in or around SB VI,..lol..and a couple others. Buc fans might not like Gruden, but he's done better there than anyone else has. He knows how to manage a team and get results...and I take that back about the Colts QB..that was Unitas..lol.
